SOUND & NATURE
LexPhil's 2024/25 Season artfully melds sound and nature, transcending the boundaries between music and the world that inspires it.
Highlights include
Symphonic Stroll in the enchanting natural landscapes of Josephine Sculpture Park, Mahler’s “Titan” Symphony No. 1, Lili Boulanger's D'un matin de printemps (Of a Spring Morning), The Oak by Florence Price, and the vast sonic expansiveness of La Mer (The Sea) by Claude Debussy.
The season features renowned pianist Michelle Cann in Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2, and continued collaboration with The Lexington Singers for two performances of Cathedral Christmas in December, and Francis Poulenc’s Gloria in March featuring Jessica Bayne (soprano). Dolores White's Give Birth to the Dream incorporates the poignant hopeful verses of Maya Angelou's poem, On the Pulse of Morning, featuring Angelique Clay (soprano).
The season finale comes to an astounding close with Igor Stravinsky’s monumental work, The Rite of Spring, paired with Takashi Yoshimatsu’s Cyber Bird Concerto featuring Jichen Zhang (saxophone), Meng Liu (piano) and Ben Stone (percussion).
Make the music possible at the Lexington Philharmonic with a gift to the Annual Fund.
