LexPhil Announces New Online Series: “Connect With Us”
New videos, performances, and interviews every Friday at 10:00 am
The Lexington Philharmonic is proud to announce a new virtual series Connect with Us. Every Friday at 10:00 am during March and April, LexPhil will premiere new virtual content which will bring LexPhil musicians and community members together online for conversation and performance.
The virtual content will include two series: Connect: Coffee Hour, live conversations on Facebook with Interim Artistic Advisor Kelly Corcoran and community guests, and Connect: With Our Musicians, short videos featuring conversations with musicians from each section of the orchestra. These informal videos and live conversations will give the LexPhil audience an opportunity to connect in conversation with LexPhil musicians, artistic collaborators and community members about the joy of creating and listening to live orchestral music.
"Spontaneous conversations and moments of connection, whether in the lobby at a concert, in a coffee shop, or at the grocery store, are some of the most cherished ways that we create community together,” says Kelly Corcoran. “Our virtual offerings are designed to create opportunities to connect. Our coffee talks will feature conversations with community members around topics such as our health and diverse musical genres, while our musician interviews will offer informal interactions highlighting favorite LexPhil memories and more. I'm looking forward to connecting with the Lexington community and having some great conversations!"
The first installment of the series will premiere on LexPhil’s Facebook page on Friday, March 5 at 10:00 am. The first Connect: Coffee Hour will focus on the role of music and art in healthcare with guests Jason Akhtarekhavari of UK Arts in HealthCare, and Jackie Hamilton Saykaly, former director of UK Arts in HealthCare. Both currently serve on the Lexington Philharmonic Board of Directors, and have deep knowledge and passion for the role the arts play in supporting healing. This live event will also feature a musical interlude, a brief performance by a LexPhil musician. The full schedule of Connect with Us virtual events will be announced on social media and at www.lexphil.org.
LexPhil will continue to plan and announce safe and accessible program updates and new initiatives during 2021 at www.lexphil.org. LexPhil’s spring season will expand LexPhil in Your Neighborhood programs to continue safely and creatively engaging through music across central Kentucky. Program updates will be published to www.lexphil.org.
