SPACE, DINOSAURS & MAGIC: The Music of John Williams is a symphonic journey through John Williams' most beloved film scores including, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, E.T., Harry Potter, Jaws, and more!

Audience members of all ages will be transported to the extraordinary universes of these timeless stories through Williams’ iconic film scores performed live by the Lexington Philharmonic. Don’t miss this must-see event for all Jedis, wizards, witches, park rangers, explorers, and music-lovers!

Note: The performance does not include projections of the films. However, the performance will make use of sound effects, moving lights, haze, and smoke that may be disorienting to those with visual and auditory sensitivities.

There will be no INSIDE THE SCORE prior to Space, Dinosaurs, & Magic.

COSTUMES ENCOURAGED

Don’t put away the Halloween costumes just yet - we’re encouraging attendees to come in their favorite John Williams’ inspired costumes! If you plan to dress up, make sure to enter the costume contest! Entries will be accepted BEFORE the concert, from 6:30 - 7:30PM.

Whether you are a Jedi, wizard, witch, park ranger, or explorer - we encourage you to go all out! The winner will be announced from the stage at the top of the second half of the concert! The prize will be four movie passes to The Kentucky Theatre!

Make sure to arrive early and visit the photobooth in the Lobby, which will feature props from Jurassic Park, ET, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and MORE!

If you choose to bring props for your costumes along, please keep these safety reminders from the University of Kentucky and the Singletary Center for the Arts in mind:

  • Ensure props resembling lightsabers, blasters, wands, whips, etc. are clearly marked as such and kept out of sight during the performance.

  • Attendees are prohibited from pointing props resembling weapons towards anyone, and are asked to refrain from hitting anyone/mock fighting with props anywhere on the premises.

  • If costume props create any sound, please ensure they are turned off for the duration of the concert so as not to distract fellow patrons.

VISIT THE PHOTO BOOTH

Visit the photobooth in the Lobby, which will feature props from Jurassic Park, ET, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and MORE!

The photobooth will be open before the concert from 6:30 - 7:30PM and at intermission. Photos will be uploaded to our social media following the concert!

 
 

COMMUNICATE WITH ALIENS

Inspired by this iconic scene from Close Encounters of the Third Kind, all are invited to visit a guided, interactive sound installation utilizing modular synthesizers and computer processing in the President's Room to "communicate with aliens!"

No experience is required for this fun, interactive homage to the 1977 classic Sci-Fi film.  The installation will be open before the concert and at intermission.

BEER, WINE, & CONCESSIONS

Fuel up before our musical adventure! Our friends at West Sixth Brewing and Wildside Winery will be on-site and serving before the concert and at intermission! Concessions at Singletary Center for the Arts will also be open for beverages and snacks.

PARKING INFORMATION

Because Saturday night's concert is SOLD OUT - please make a parking plan in advance and give yourself plenty of time to arrive! We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes early for pre-concert activities.

  • LexPhil offers $10 valet parking at the Rose Street entrance.

  • Patron parking is available in most "E" Lots on UK’s campus after 3:30PM. Please check the signage as some E areas are controlled 24 hours for permits.

  • Parking at the Gatton Student Center is available on a first-come, first served basis. 

  • Parking Structure #5, located at South Limestone and Avenue of
    Champions. Enter from Limestone by turning left, click here to see the map. Note that parking at this garage requires a 5-10 minute walk down Avenue of Champions to reach the Singletary Center for the Arts.
