Lou Hedrick Jones makes Significant Gift to the Lexington Philharmonic Foundation

The Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra Foundation is thrilled to announce that long-time Lexington Philharmonic supporter and Board Member Lou Hedrick Jones has generously donated two paid life insurance policies valued at approximately $80,000 to the Foundation's endowment fund. Ms. Jones's investment in the Lexington Philharmonic Foundation will help ensure a vibrant future of outstanding musical experiences for central Kentucky's generations to come.

Ms. Jones has been a Philharmonic season ticket holder and donor to the Lexington Philharmonic annual fund for many years. Her contribution to the Lexington Philharmonic Foundation's endowment is a reflection of her commitment to supporting the operations of the organization, both now and for years to come. Ms. Jones's generous gift is in memory of her mother, who inspired Lou's love of music.

“My love of music is deeply personal to me.  As far back as I can remember, my mother (Wanda Hedrick, a trained vocalist and pianist) filled our home with music of every kind: Classical, Religious, Big Band, the Rat Pack, the Beach Boys, even Rock music. She embraced it all and taught us to love it too. Music adds so much to our lives and I think everyone should have the opportunity to experience the power and beauty of live performance,” says Lou Hedrick Jones. “Moving to the Lexington, KY community years ago, I began attending performances of the Lexington Philharmonic, and found community, joy, and friendship with other Lexington music-lovers. In making this gift to our Foundation’s endowment, I am confident that these resources will be carefully stewarded, to ensure that many others can enjoy and experience our orchestra and the joy of music for years to come.”

Ms. Jones opted to make her investment now, rather than later, to encourage others to make plans to give legacy gifts to the Foundation, or via a gift made in an estate.

The Lexington Philharmonic Foundation supervises the Lexington Philharmonic endowment for the long-term benefit of the orchestra and the community. Foundation funds are carefully managed by an independent Board of Directors. The Lexington Philharmonic Foundation's purpose is to perpetuate the mission, vision, and values of the Lexington Philharmonic. The Lexington Philharmonic receives a distribution from the Foundation each season to help cover expenses associated with programs and performances. Growing the endowment of the Lexington Philharmonic Foundation helps ensure resources for the orchestra.

The Lexington Philharmonic Foundation is extremely grateful to Ms. Jones for her leadership, generosity and long term support. Her example will undoubtedly inspire others to follow her passion to make live orchestral music, made by our own Lexington Philharmonic, accessible to our community.
